After alot of thought about the several names we’ve considered, none of them seem quite right for us…
We have already decided that our little girl will have two godmothers, [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] and [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] - sisters, who are two of my dearest friends
And today, I got the idea of not only having them as the godmothers, but perhaps a namesake as well…but I’m not wanting another [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] in the household, so I need some alternatives.
So, what are some ways we could adapt [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] to give our girl a name of her own, whilst still honoring her godmothers?
For Amanda you could use Amelia, Amy, Amalisa, Miranda, Maisie, Mae and for Jessica there’s Jess, Jessa, Jessamine, Jessie.
You could also look up the meanings and find names with similar meanings.
Amanda means much-loved. Names that have a similar meaning (I searched ‘loved’) include Adelpha, Amy, Davina, Amadea and Esme. There’s more if you’d like to search too, I just thought these were the more useable.
Jessica means wealthy. From searching ‘wealth’ I found Eda, Edwina, Edina, Odette and Odetta.
Something like Esme Odette could be gorgeous although not immediately obvious that your sisters are namesakes.
[name_u]Mandy[/name_u] - I tried to think of names with the letters “man” in them: [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] (love this!), [name_f]Armande[/name_f], [name_f]Manon[/name_f], [name_f]Dimanche[/name_f], [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Iman[/name_f] (or [name_f]Imana[/name_f] / [name_f]Imani[/name_f]), Ermana, [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_f]Romana[/name_f]/[name_u]Romany[/name_u],
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is harder - [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f], Jesilka, [name_f]Jesenia[/name_f],
Most of the names I was going to suggest have already been mentioned, but I think [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] would be a pretty honor name for an [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (Scottish variation of [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], according to NB) could also work.
I also want to second the suggestion of [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f], which I think is a really clever way to combine [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] and [name_f]Amanda[/name_f].
Jessamund, Jesmine/[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], Jamesan(may work better for a boy middle), [name_u]Aja[/name_u], [name_f]Amica[/name_f], [name_u]Mica[/name_u], [name_f]Anissa[/name_f], [name_f]Marissa[/name_f], [name_f]Andra[/name_f], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Anica[/name_f], [name_f]Manda[/name_f], [name_f]Sandie[/name_f], Jandra
