Hello, all! I am brainstorming some boy names to use as a middle name that would honor an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for our coming baby. We’d also be open to masculine ways to honor a [name_f]Faith[/name_f].
I like the idea of [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] or [name_m]Emmett[/name_m].
Emil/Emile, [name_m]Emilio[/name_m], and [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] aren’t really our style.
I would LOVE to hear some fresh ideas. Ideally, the honoring would be relatively obvious and not too much of a stretch, but we’re open to all options.
I don’t love [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] on a boy, it’s just always seemed feminine to me, but [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] is a great idea!
You could also use:
[name_m]Lee[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] (eMILy)
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] (ditto with Miles)
Elmer/Elmo (Elmo is probably too tied with [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f], but I think [name_m]Elmer[/name_m] would work!)
[name_m]Elm[/name_m]
[name_m]Emory[/name_m] (maybe too feminine)
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_m]Emran[/name_m]
Emmerick/Emmerich
[name_m]Emilian[/name_m]
[name_m]Bentley[/name_m]
[name_m]Bradley[/name_m]
To honor a woman named [name_f]Faith[/name_f], I could see using the name of a biblical figure or saint (they’re all full of faith!) but I certainly understand if that’s too stretchy!
[name_f]Iman[/name_f] (means faith in Arabic)
Besim (means faith in Albanian)
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m]
I love [name_m]Emerson[/name_m]! I am also quite fond of [name_m]Emilian[/name_m], though I wouldn’t consider [name_m]Emil[/name_m] or [name_m]Emilio[/name_m] myself either. [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_m]Emory[/name_m]? [name_m]Emory[/name_m] or [name_m]Emilian[/name_m] feel closest to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] to me, but [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] is probably my favorite.
The only names meaning “faith” that I can think of are [name_f]Imani[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f], which both usually lean feminine, although I’m seeing that [name_f]Imani[/name_f] can be unisex. I think [name_f]Faith[/name_f] can equally be for boys and girls in equal measure though so I could see using just straight [name_f]Faith[/name_f]? [name_m]Or[/name_m] maybe the similar looking [name_m]Laith[/name_m].
To honor [name_f]Faith[/name_f] (meaning: virtue name), I love the name [name_m]Fain[/name_m] (meaning: happy, joyous), but I think it fits better as a middle name.
For [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (meaning: rival), the first name that came to mind is [name_m]Milo[/name_m] (meaning: soldier or merciful).
2 for 1, you could do [name_f]Emani[/name_f] which is a variant of [name_f]Iman[/name_f]. Has the [name_f]Em[/name_f] from [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and means “faith” in Arabic
From your option s for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] I love Emil/Emile or [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] the most!
For [name_f]Emily[/name_f] you could also use [name_m]Emiel[/name_m], [name_f]Miel[/name_f] or [name_m]Emilian[/name_m] and for [name_f]Faith[/name_f] you could use [name_m]Fate[/name_m], [name_m]Fidel[/name_m] or [name_m]Foy[/name_m]
[name_m]Emmett[/name_m] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] are great as far as similarities go. I’d like to be able to offer something fresh. I think [name_m]Emeric[/name_m] could work. I also wonder if [name_m]Esmond[/name_m] is close enough for consideration. The sounds remind me of [name_m]Emerson[/name_m].
For [name_f]Faith[/name_f], I think [name_m]Faolan[/name_m] or [name_m]Phelan[/name_m] could work well. [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] is another good option although already mentioned in the thread.
