Honoring Jeremiah

Hey y’all! I’m in search of a name to honor my father, [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]! We don’t want use his exact name but something similar. He mostly goes by the nickname “[name_u]Jay[/name_u]” & some family calls him “[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]”. We have two daughters already — [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], so preferably something that doesn’t clash with their names. Thank you in advance!

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and…

[name_u]Jem[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] (maybe too close to [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]?)
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_m]Jett[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Jebediah[/name_m]

I thought of [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Jem[/name_u]

Since [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] is a distinctive biblical name, other biblical names starting with “J” could be a great way to honour your father. Some good ones have already been mentioned but I’d also like to suggest [name_u]Jericho[/name_u], [name_m]Judah[/name_m], [name_m]Jethro[/name_m], [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] and [name_m]Jared[/name_m]. There are many more to choose from but these are the closest ones I’ve found to [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] and work with your other children’s names.

Some other ideas for you [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], [name_m]Jerome[/name_m], Jarrah, [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m], [name_u]Jermaine[/name_u], [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] and [name_m]Eric[/name_m].

If you can’t find a name you love, you could also consider honouring your father by using his initials, his middle name or a variation of his middle name. All the best with your search!

My first thought was [name_u]Jem[/name_u]! Or, you could find another (longer) name that shortens to [name_u]Jem[/name_u].

[name_u]Jem[/name_u], [name_u]Jerry[/name_u], [name_u]Remi[/name_u]/[name_u]Remy[/name_u], [name_m]Ramey[/name_m], and [name_u]Micah[/name_u] come to mind.

[name_u]Jem[/name_u] popped into my mind as it did for others and I think it’s a fantastic name: straightforward, spunky and literary. And it sounds great with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]! I taught a boy called [name_u]Jem[/name_u] and it works really well [name_m]IRL[/name_m].

There’s also [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m] (J + iah + biblical)

[name_m]Miles[/name_m]/[name_m]Milo[/name_m]/[name_u]Micah[/name_u]/[name_u]Michael[/name_u]
any boy names that starts with a [name_u]Jay[/name_u] sound, like [name_m]Jason[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Jared[/name_m]/[name_m]Jered[/name_m]
[name_u]Jem[/name_u]
[name_u]Remi[/name_u]

I went to school with a boy named Jerem.
It’s recognizable but uncommon at the same time.

Oooo, thank you guys for the suggestions! Y’all gave some great names & ideas! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Jem[/name_u], Jerem, & several others.
