Honoring my dad. Need ideas

[name_m]How[/name_m] to honor my dad with a name, (someday), is so hard. His name is [name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m], and those names do not appeal to me. I plan to use [name_u]James[/name_u], my dad’s dad’s name and also my little brothers. In a way, it honors my dad, but not really.

[name_m]How[/name_m] could I honor him?

You can honor a family member in many different ways, and you don’t necessarily have to use their names. You could use the same initials, so choosing a first name with H and a middle name with E. You could use a version/nickname of [name_m]Edward[/name_m], for example [name_m]Edison[/name_m], [name_m]Ward[/name_m] or [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m]. You don’t even have use the names as inspiration; you could also honor your dad by naming your son after the town your dad grew up in, the street he lived on in childhood, the name of his favorite lake, or anything like that.

Use his initials H E and [name_u]James[/name_u] could be a second middle.

[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] / [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]

[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] could also be a middle name.

I wouldn’t limit honoring him to only boy names. I think there are real options you have for both boy and girl!

I think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is a great combinations of both [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Heath[/name_m]. It would make a lovely FN or MN for a little girl. There is also [name_f]Heather[/name_f] which is a little dated but could work as a MN for a girl. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] has the same letters as [name_m]Heath[/name_m] and is beautiful.

[name_m]Edison[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] all work for a boy and honor [name_m]Edward[/name_m] which has more options than [name_m]Heath[/name_m].

I like the idea of [name_u]Leaf[/name_u], which sounds similar to [name_m]Heath[/name_m] and is also a nature name. It’s kind of out there, but would fit in fine with unusual word names like [name_f]Indie[/name_f], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] from your list. (Though [name_u]Leaf[/name_u] and [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] might be a bit too tree-themed.) You could also use [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] to honour the [name_m]Edward[/name_m] part, as a full name or nickname for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

I think [name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is fantabulous! Too bad you aren’t feeling it. I think using one family name is enough. [name_u]James[/name_u] honors his family. I would use [name_u]James[/name_u] and a name you and the father love. Maybe he will want to honor someone from his family.
