Hiya! I have a long-running family tradition of giving sons the name Harold. My grandparents broke this two generations ago when they did not give my dad or any of his siblings this name, but if I ever have kids I’ve thought about keeping it going. I think Harriet works for a girl, but I’m stumped on boys. I don’t like Harold in itself, or Harry, & the only other name I’ve thought of is Halle which I’m kind of “meh” about. Any ideas? (for any gender)
Edit: I just came across Aroldo which I like as a middle
[name_u]Harry[/name_u] is a nickname for both [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and [name_u]Henry[/name_u], so I think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] could work. Ditto [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] or [name_f]Henriette[/name_f]. [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] could also work for a girl.
Also maybe [name_m]Roland[/name_m], [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]? Sharing many letters with [name_m]Harold[/name_m]. For what it’s worth, personally I think [name_m]Harold[/name_m] is cute! Plus there’s the classic children’s book [name_m]Harold[/name_m] and the Purple Crayon which would look sweet displayed in a nursery The same goes for [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] is cute! But I personally would not want it for a first name.
Girls
I think [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] is sweet, and I think [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] would be a cute nickname. But I have been recently been crushing on the name [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] which could also work wonders!
Boys
For boys, [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] or [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] are my favourite. I also like the name [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] (suggested by other berries). I think all these names are lovely .
