i am always at such a loss for honor names for martha. margaret + variants is as close as i have come, especially because the martha i would like to honor goes by a traditional nickname for margaret and not martha. however, i’m still curious if there are any i’m missing more direct to martha! (i’ve also thought of honoring her middle name, which i do have options i like, but just more curious about the name martha itself!)

I’ve looked at using [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] as they share a nickname and, depending on accent, sounds.
Also, as the person I am considering honoring is named Mᴀrcɛllᴀ Mᴀrthᴀ, I have also looked at using [name_u]Mar[/name_u], [name_u]Mars[/name_u] and [name_f]Marce[/name_f] as middles.
If the Martha you are naming your daughter after is deceased and had a different surname, you could just name her Martha. After all, Martha is a beautiful name that is sadly no longer popular.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] or any of its variants (this ties to the Biblical story of [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and Mary) - another option is [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], which is the place that the Biblical [name_f]Martha[/name_f] came from.
[name_f]Martha[/name_f] means “lady” in Aramaic, so another name with the same meaning could work: [name_f]Freja[/name_f], [name_f]Donna[/name_f], and [name_f]Nerys[/name_f] are a couple of possibilities.
You could also use [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] or [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] if you have a boy!
Perhaps just using Martha (which I am absolutely in love with, personally) or the nickname she goes by as the honor would suit you? As a middle or first? (Bonus that the traditional nicknames for Margaret I can think of are all so nice!)

To honour a Martha, I’d just go with Martha. I don’t see how Margaret or its variants would “count”. Martha doesn’t have many direct variants. Um, Myrtle maybe? Unrelated, but certainly sounds more similar than Margaret. Or Martine, Martina, and so forth.
