I’m looking for a girls name that can honour a [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] and I am really struggling! Any ideas?
What about [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Joslyn[/name_f], or [name_u]Josie[/name_u]? Any of them would work as a first or middle name, or [name_u]Josie[/name_u] could be a nn for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Joslyn[/name_f].
I would say [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
Hmm…
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
Joshna
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f]
[name_f]Iesha[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayshah[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayesha[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
: )
[name_f]Josepha[/name_f]
[name_f]Jerusha[/name_f]
[name_f]Josiane[/name_f]
Jesusa
or maybe something creative like Joshuanne, Joshuelle, Joshuette?
I know a girl (early 20’s) named Josha. Other than that I think [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Josslyn[/name_f] is a great way to honor a [name_m]Joshua[/name_m].
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Jerusha[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] or whichever spelling, would be the most obvious and accessible. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Josette[/name_f]. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is another accessible way to go, but makes me think [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] over [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]. Joshna definitely far and away the most obvious.
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] has the same meaning as [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], and they share a similar style/sound. Another thought is to have [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] as the middle name?
I kind of dig [name_f]Jerusha[/name_f] as a way to honor [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]? I wouldn’t have said so a year or two ago but now it reminds me of [name_f]Jerusha[/name_f] Hess, who is this really cool, quirky indie filmmaker and it makes [name_f]Jerusha[/name_f] sound a lot less biblical and stuffy, i think. It has a cool, slightly hipster feel to it now.
