Honouring a Ric/Eric in the middle name

We need middle name help! My husband’s father’s name is [name_m]Eric[/name_m] (he goes by [name_m]Ric[/name_m]). My husband wants us to use [name_f]Erica[/name_f] as a middle name to honour him. It seems like a good idea because my sister is [name_f]Erica[/name_f], and I have an uncle [name_m]Erik[/name_m], so it’s a family name on both sides.
But [name_f]Erica[/name_f] is such a difficult middle name! It looks so small but it’s three syllables.

Here’s our list right now for first names (yes I like my old-fashioned names):
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Silvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]

All of these sound so awkward with the middle name [name_f]Erica[/name_f], don’t you think?
Are there other ways to signal “[name_m]Ric[/name_m]/[name_m]Eric[/name_m]”?

If we weren’t tied to this requirement, I like these first-middle combos, but they’re all I have:
[name_f]Hanna[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]

I get what you mean about [name_f]Erica[/name_f] sounding awkward with the names from you list. But I do think [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] [name_f]Erica[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Erica[/name_f] sound nice.

The best replacement for [name_f]Erica[/name_f] I can think of is [name_f]Rica[/name_f]. Combos that you might like:

  • [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rica[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Hanna[/name_f] [name_f]Rica[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Rica[/name_f]

I know [name_f]Rica[/name_f] isn’t much better, but still hopes this helps!

Have you thought about putting [name_f]Erica[/name_f] first and calling your daughter by her second name or a nickname?
[name_f]Erica[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Erica[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]Erica[/name_f] annabelle nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f]

It seems to have a lovely flow with [name_f]Erica[/name_f] first. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name btw.

I think [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] [name_f]Erica[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Erica[/name_f], and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Erica[/name_f] all sound great.

The only names I can think of to honor [name_m]Eric[/name_m]/[name_m]Ric[/name_m] would be Merick and [name_f]Jerica[/name_f] ([name_f]Erica[/name_f] w/a ‘J’). I like Merick/[name_m]Merrick[/name_m] a lot.

I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] sound fine with [name_f]Erica[/name_f].
