[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
For our boy name we’re looking at honouring members of our families. The main issue though is that we don’t want to call the child by the options we have available. Which of the following do you like best? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the child will have a hard time not being called by their ‘official’ name?
Option 1
[name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] called A.J.
Named for his grandfather and my father
Option 2
[name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Rudolf[/name_m] (J.R.) called [name_m]Junior[/name_m]
Named for my father and his father
Thoughts?

I like both, but [name_u]John[/name_u] and [name_m]Rudolf[/name_m] fit better together than [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] and [name_u]John[/name_u]. I don’t think the child will have a hard time going by JR or AJ. These are very common nicknames.
I like [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] nn AJ
I personally prefer [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Rudolf[/name_m].
Some people like initial names and others don’t. I do not so if my parents made that my name or nickname, I would change it.
There is literally nothing wrong with being called my a nickname.
Your picked [name_u]John[/name_u] twice, so what about a version or similar name to [name_u]John[/name_u].
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] (always a favourite and on my forever list)
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_u]Shaun[/name_u] or [name_u]Sean[/name_u] from [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]
[name_u]Jean[/name_u] (French version of John)
[name_m]Ian[/name_m] (Scottish version of [name_u]John[/name_u]
[name_m]Johan[/name_m] or [name_u]Jan[/name_u] (European versions of [name_u]John[/name_u] I do like [name_m]Johan[/name_m] or [name_m]Yohan[/name_m]

JR is fine but I absolutely love [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] “AJ”! I’m not called by my birth certificate name and it’s rarely an issue. I have friends who go by a nickname of their middle name and don’t have a problem (think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “Lizzie”).
I’d just remember though that you can control the name when he’s little, but when he gets older he might prefer to be [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] or [name_u]John[/name_u] or [name_u]Johnny[/name_u] or [name_u]Jack[/name_u] so I’d make sure you like the name enough that you’ll be okay if that happens.
I definitely prefer [name_u]John[/name_u] Rudolf,I’m personally not a big fan of [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] and I really don’t think that he’ll have a hard time not being called by his official name, the most people have nicknames
