Iām on the hunt for a powerfully ancient, playful, fun name for a boy that isnāt unheard of, nor is it too lofty. I imagine a curly-haired boy with an exciting air about him when Iām trying to find a name thatāll fit.
What do you think of [name_m]Horatio[/name_m]? I was drawn to it because I think of foghorns, but whatās your impression? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]?
Much prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is super lovely and light!
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] feels quite pretentious to me if I was being totally honest.
To me [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is a very grown up name because of [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] in [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m] and [name_m]Horace[/name_m] Slughorn in HP. [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is also on the lofty side in my opinion. But if you can see the boy as [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], go for it.
However, I really love [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and think it better fits your description
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is actually my favorite of the three!! It reminds me of the loyal character in [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m]. Unlike previous posters I can actually easily see [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] on a young boy (though [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] both feel a bit younger), probably influenced by @hyacinthbucketās son!
I love [name_m]Horatio[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] association with it is the comedian [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] Sanz - so the name is very likable, personable, fun and handsome to me. I do like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is cool, but [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is my fave of the three.
I think Horatio exactly fits the vibe youāre going for! Itās such a cool name, but not too over-the-top, imo.
For myself, Iād probably prefer Sebastian because I tend to lean towards the familiar. But Apollo, imo, is far more out-there than Horatio. I think Horatio is a nice balance between familiar and out-there, and I really like it for a less expected, yet smart and literary name!
I love Horatio!! [name_f]Imo[/name_f] it has the perfect balance of coolness and geek-y feel. Such a powerful sounding name
I like all three almost equally. They have different vibes though: [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is ancient cool, [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is quirky cool, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is a handsome classic!
I like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] a lot! [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] are nice too. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] does feel a bit lofty, but not really. I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] fit your imagery best.
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] feels a little heavy to me, but I think the nickname Tio could make it a little bit more wearable for a little kid. Itās a perfectly usable name to me though. i prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] over [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], leaning towards [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] even though itās more popular than the other two
To me [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] feels like a stereotypical āupper classā/posh [name_u]Brit[/name_u] boy name and itās not a name I would choose personally. I can see it working in the right community though.
I adore [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], and honestly get exactly that image from him! That youthful, fun, and playful vibe in a well established name is [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] to me. It doesnāt come across as too heavy or too much in general for a little boy.
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] in full I like, although [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is a bit too āin your faceā for me (just not my style).
I actually like [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] most of the three you listed. Itās not really my typical style, but I find the sound more appealing than [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] feels like an overwhelming association with the Greek god. [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] is solid, handsome, and dignified. [name_f]My[/name_f] main association is the [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] Hornblower miniseries.
