I am a self confessed horse-girl! There’s been a pick up of interest in the media of the stereotype of people (often depicted as young girls) who love horses. It is often seen as negative or weird, but I fully embrace the positives!
I’m wondering what names (boy, girl, gender neutral) give you the vibes of country, oudoorsey, animal-loving people? You can either put names down for a ‘horse girl’, or even what a horse girl would name their child. It will also be interesting to see if these associations have big geographically differences; are American horse-girls different to British horse girls?
This post is aiming at positive associations, but feel free to also suggest negative associations if you really want
I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
I don’t know what brings these names to mind but I think of…
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Brianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Katie[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
Some of them give me a cool, cowgirl vibe, so that’s probably why I associate them with horses.

I’m just going but the people I know who happen to be horse girls - I all think they really suit the aesthetic!

[name_f]Tamara[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]

Philippa & Philip both mean “lover of horses”.
Some others:
- [name]Zoe[/name_f] (Greek) “Life” → Character from the show Free Rein
- [name]Rosalind[/name_f] (German) “Gentle Horse”
- [name]Rosamund[/name_f] (German) “Horse Protector”
- [name]Pippa[/name_f] (Italian) “Lover of Horses” → Philippa / Philip diminutive
- [name]Pipaluk[/name_f] (Greenlandic) “Sweet Little Thing” → Reminiscent of Philippa / Philip
- [name]Colin[/name_m] (Scottish) “Young Creature” → Personally gives me “riding horses across the moor” vibes
- [name]Vivian[/name_u] (Latin) “Life” → I can imagine someone of either gender named Vivian who would be a caretaker of animals, including horses
american ‘horse girls’ are girls who bite people, dress funky, and bark at people. “horse girls” in america dont really like horses lol.

I’ve always thought certain names were very “horse girl” interesting to be able to use my oddly specific association!
I think of something a little country but a little preppy at the same time, with a friendly sound.

[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
I also think of the -leigh suffix for something stereotypically horse girl, maybe because of the nature meaning or the preppy vibe: [name_f]Hadleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Ashleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Paisleigh[/name_f]

I’m not sure if it’s already been mentioned, but the ultimate horse girl name to me is [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]! I love the subtle horse vibes it gives.

It sounds like British horse girls and American horse girls are indeed different. It’s a stereotype, but here in the UK “horse girls” are generally perceived as being privately educated, wealthy and upper class.

Completely agree with @katinka ‘horse girls’ in the U.K. are definitely perceived as middle to upper class girls who are privately educated and wealthy. Ultimately horse riding is an expensive hobby here only a certain type of person would be able to upkeep this hobby. Unless your from a community that has horses like a travelling community but I would say a horse girl would not fall into the same category.
Anyways names of ‘horse girls’ I know/would imagine being called
Phoebe
Eleanor
Catherine

Penelope
