Hot Takes? 🤭

Agreed. But I’ll take it a step further.

[name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] > [name_m]Constantin[/name_m] > [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]

I don’t know what it is about the E at the end, but I just don’t like it.

I prefer [name_m]Jamin[/name_m] over [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u]. For some reason, [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] just doesn’t look right. It doesn’t sound right in state’s dialect either (like ā€œbeen [name_m]German[/name_m]ā€).

Theodosia > [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]

Some random ones that popped into my head.

Lilia > [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] > [name_u]Maria[/name_u]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] > [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisy[/name_f] > [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lulu[/name_f] > [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] > [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] > [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]

when choosing poetic name →
name from author’s work that is clearly ā€œauthor’sā€ >>>>>> author’s surname
or in other words [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] over [name_u]Spenser[/name_u]

This is going to be a really hot take so be warned.

I’m going to have to agree with you.

I feel like I see [name_u]Kit[/name_u] used so much on here that it’s really lost it’s charm, and it feels a bit boring now, personally. I’ve always kind of liked [name_f]Kat[/name_f] though, it just comes off as fresh and exciting.

Hot take:

The -y ending is almost always better than the -ie ending.

It’s backwards for me. Why end it with a -y when you can end it with an -ie.

You know what’s a glossed over name with a lot of charm? [name_u]Marie[/name_u]

I agree. But Sosi is the nickname my twin brother has for me, so I’m completely biased  Apart from that, I do like the sound of [name_f]Sosie[/name_f] much more than that of [name_f]Susie[/name_f]. It’s such a great nickname for a girl (or a full name if you like). But obviously I can’t use it, so…

Yep. An example I can think of where that I don’t like more is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] vs [name_f]Elly[/name_f].

I disagree almost all the time:

freddie > freddy
ellie > elly
annie > anny
nellie > nelly
katie > katy
emmie > emmy
lizzie > lizzy
winnie > winny
effie > effy
hattie > hatty
maddie > maddy

but…
betsy > betsie
betty > bettie
ginny > ginnie
polly > pollie
molly > mollie

and sometimes…
rosy > rosie
