[name]Just[/name] throwing a name idea out there… give me your honest opinions!
Hallelujah - For a baby girl, would be call “[name]Halle[/name]” (like [name]Halle[/name] [name]Berry[/name])
What would be a good middle name? I like double names too - so a middle name that could make a nice double name with [name]Halle[/name] would be great!
The only one I can come up with is “[name]Halle[/name] [name]Grace[/name]” - but I don’t really love the name [name]Grace[/name] that much! Thoughts?
I’m sorry, but I’m going to be completely honest here. I strongly dislike Hallelujah. It’s not really a name, and there are so many pretty names out there that a little girl could have rather than Hallelujah!
[name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Helena[/name], for instance? It sounds a lot like Hallelujah and you could still nickname her [name]Halle[/name]. [name]Helena[/name] [name]Grace[/name] sounds nice too.
I think it could potentially work but honestly it’s a little awkward to my ears. Are you religious and/or does the name have particular meaning to you? If not I would steer clear.
If you like [name]Halle[/name] and would call her that anyway, why not just name her [name]Halle[/name]? It’s a gorgeous name on its own!
Then again I’m usually a fan of short and sweet and to the point.
If you love Hallelujah though, by all means use it. I wouldn’t pair it with [name]Grace[/name] though. [name]Grace[/name] makes it even heavier/more religious sounding.
If you do use it, I would personally pair it with something very short in the middle spot. I would also try to avoid any word-name middle names (with a few common name exceptions, like [name]Rose[/name]).
Thanks for the replies so far! To answer some questions:
Yes, I am a [name]Christian[/name]! So, the meaning of Hallelujah ("[name]Praise[/name] be to God") has significant meaning to me! I definitely am not looking for other names that sound similar (like [name]Helena[/name], etc) - I appreciate them, but its the meaning that draws me to try to make Hallelujah work as a name! But I do love some of the other religious suggestions - Hosanna and [name]Jubilee[/name] are both cute! So, feel free to suggest more!
I agree that Hallelujah [name]Grace[/name] probably makes it a little bit too “preachy” sounding though. [name]Hence[/name] the needing more middle name suggestions!
So far I am really loving Hallelujah [name]Rose[/name] - calling her [name]Halle[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be so sweet!
I also thought of Hallelujah [name]Claire[/name] - [name]Halle[/name] [name]Claire[/name] has a nice ring to it I think!
While I understand the thinking behind these kind of arguements, I am not bothered by it too much. In this day and age, with [name]Apple[/name] and [name]Banjo[/name] being not all that uncommon - I don’t think a Hallelujah will get more than a second glance. Its not a completely “made up” name - its a common word, just not a common name.
That is also my reasoning for finding a good middle name that can easily be substituted if she really decides she wants to be a lawyer - H. [name]Claire[/name] Lastname would be perfectly acceptable on a buisness card!
Plus, what if she wants to be a gospel singer when she grows up ? I’ll have given her a head start!
I’m a [name]Christian[/name] too. Thats why I [name]LOVE[/name] the name! For a mn: [name]Mae[/name] (its mine and i love it). I’ll try to think of more…
I like the idea of it and, the nn [name]Halle[/name], but I would never personally use it. I like the suggestion of Hosanna, and Alleluia and [name]Iluminada[/name] are some of my GP names. I also love the more common [name]Eden[/name] and [name]Trinity[/name].

I think the difference is that those kids [name]Apple[/name] and [name]Banjo[/name] have famous and rich parents where they are going to have doors already opened for them, where they won’t have the same obsticales as those in the real world would most likely have with the same names. At least in most places in the US.
It sounds like you have made up your mind already - congrats!!
While I do think it has a pretty ring to it, my personal opinion is that it might be kind of a mouthful of a name. No disrespect meant. [name]How[/name] about [name]Halle[/name] paired with a religious middle name? You will always know where you derived the name [name]Halle[/name] from and can tell your daughter. Suggestions:
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Christian[/name]
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]/[name]Noel[/name]
[name]Halle[/name] [name]Eden[/name]
Also, Hosanna is lovelier, more name-y, has nn [name]Annie[/name] and is all over more versatile. A Hallelujah would need a BIG personality to master the name and to ‘match’ it which is something people often expect and which I find sways people’s judgement a LOT. I’m also afraid she would suffer if she ends up being a little shy (which is something you can never know).
[name]Imagine[/name] a timid little girl introducing herself as Hallelujah and tell me you wouldn’t be surprised enough to have trouble hiding it from her. I would, and I’m afraid this is one name I can’t commit to (as a first name), even though I [name]LOVE[/name] strange names.
Put Hallelujah in the middle however, and the whole problem disappears! Middle names can be whacky, silly and as strange as they want to, Hummingbird and Sunflower being on my list of names I’d only use in the middle.
[name]Claire[/name] Hallelujah would be great!
Hosanna [name]Claire[/name] would also be great, but put like that I can’t say which one I like the most. I love the whimsy of Hallelujah, but only in the middle. I also love Hosanna as a first name, it could be the name of any type of person!
It’s really up to you, but I personally would hope you can be able to push it back to being a middle name. So your girl has a choice. If she likes it, she’ll embrace it and if not it won’t bother her all that much since it’s not her first name. ^^
I guess I don’t worry so much about her “living up” to the name Hallelujah because I know so many people who go by their middle names or nicknames pretty much exclusively. One of my good friends is named [name]Jillian[/name] - but always introduced herself as simply “[name]Jill[/name]”. Another friend has never been known as anything but her middle name [name]Kara[/name] - even her buisness cards say M. [name]Kara[/name] Lastname. So, I don’t see a problem with giving a child a longer first name, knowing full well that she will probably not really go by it.
My mind is not completely made up - I just really love “Hallelujah” and want to find a way to make it work! Doesn’t anyone have some middle name suggestions?
I like the idea and meaning behind Hallelujah. I do think that it would always become a conversation starter when people first hear or see her name. She may need to brace for lots of comments and conversation even when she is not up for it.
If you do you do use Hallelujah, you’re right that she will have a head start if she decides to be a Gospel singer! I really love [name]Claire[/name] as a middle name. It is dignified and elegant. It flows well, and, as you noted, H. [name]Claire[/name] Surname would take her anywhere. I can’t think of a better middle name than [name]Claire[/name]!
I have mn suggestions! And whilst it’s not a favourite of mine, I can appreciate Hallelujah for its melodious sound, cute nn potential and meaning for you. I also love [name]Jeff[/name] [name]Buckley[/name]'s ‘Hallelujah’
I would just worry that maybe she herself would not become a [name]Christian[/name] when she’s older. I mean, you can’t know for a fact your child will continue to be the religion she grew up in. And in that case, it might be a little burdensome for her.
I do love the nn [name]Halle[/name] though. I agree with the person that said it could work by itself.
Also, if you want a name with a religious/[name]Christian[/name] meaning…there are hundreds of Hebrew names with them!
[name]Abiah[/name] - God is my Father
[name]Aliah[/name] - to ascend; heaven
Chanya - the grace of Jehovah
Bethea - servant of Jehovah
[name]Brielle[/name] - God is my might
[name]Elsa[/name] - my God is a vow
[name]Giana[/name] - God is gracious
[name]Makayla[/name] - Who is like God?
[name]Rafaela[/name] - God has healed
[name]Rama[/name] - rejoice
[name]Shannon[/name] - God is gracious
[name]Vardina[/name] - rose of God
