I am just curious on how you would pronounce the names [name]Carys[/name] and [name]Calliope[/name]?
I say Care-iss and Cuh-LIE-oh-pee… I’m pretty sure those are both the correct pronunciations. For a long time I thought [name]Calliope[/name] was said like [name]Callie[/name]-oh-pee though.
Depending on who you ask, [name]Carys[/name] will get CARE-iss or CAR-iss. I know a girl named [name]Karis[/name] who pronounces her name [name]Karis[/name], so to me, [name]Carys[/name], [name]Caris[/name], [name]Karis[/name], etc are all CARE-iss.
I pronounce [name]Calliope[/name] as cal-eye-oh-pee.
[name]Carys[/name] should have a short ‘a’ sound as in ‘Car’ not a long one like it ‘Care’ - so [name]Ca[/name]- riss (sorry not the best at phonetics) rather than Care-riss (and I am Welsh so consider myself somewhat of an expert 
)
I pronounce [name]Calliope[/name] the same as previous poster - cal-eye-op -ee

[name]Carys[/name] is more like KAH-riss where I’m from - not like car, and definitely not like care. A bit like [name]Carrie[/name] with the -s sound tagged on the end, though that’s [name]Carrie[/name] with the UK prn not the US one.
[name]Calliope[/name] to me is [name]Callie[/name]-oh-pee, though I don’t know if that’s right. I see people post [name]Cal[/name]-EYE-oh-pee and I don’t like the sound of that at all.

Thanks! I had the pronunciation right on both, but wasn’t positive! Lol! We have [name]Karis[/name] on our name list, i wasn’t sure if [name]Carys[/name] was the original spelling or not! However, I still would use the [name]Karis[/name] spelling, because I live in South Arkansas…lol I don’t even want to think about how they would pronounce it if i spelled it [name]Carys[/name]!

[name]Carys[/name] is the original Welsh spelling, I think you should use it! I have the original Irish spelling of my name ([name]Caitlin[/name]) and I really appreciate that my mom used that version and didn’t make up a new one.
Me and hubby will have to talk it over by the way, I saw in ur name list that u like the nn [name]Jory[/name]. My great uncle is named [name]Jory[/name]! I have never seen that name anywhere else. I always liked it.
