I’m considering [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] for our second baby girl. Our first is named [name_f]Rosa[/name_f].
I live in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], where [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is a vintage name, not too common and old-fashioned, most of people think about an old granny.
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is different in style, more cyberpunk (due to the videogame) and international, and sooo much rarer than [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] (it’s more common as a dog name LOL).
I’m afraid that it could end up like others name I used to love as [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which, being international, have become very common all over the world.
So I ask you: how common is [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] in the country/region you live in (and if you would like to specify which it is).
I live in the US and I don’t think I have met a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. It ranks #669 here, so nothing like the popularity of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I would say it also has vintage vibes in the US, but a little quirky and fantasy-esque too with the video game and the cool Z initial.
I’m from Greece, and I don’t think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] exists as a name here at all. That said, I don’t think it would sound weird to anyone, since it has a familiar sound! I wouldn’t be surprised to meet sisters named [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Zelda[/name_f].
I live in the US and have never met or heard of someone being names [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. (I think a UK or Australian family vlogger chose it for their most recent baby???)
I don’t think I ever met a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] in my life. It must be very rare in my country (Portugal)!* Honestly, I think it would work so well here and I would love to meet a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]! I’ve encountered women named [name_f]Zena[/name_f], [name_f]Zelia[/name_f] and Zeza (nickname), but not [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. I think it is a great name!
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is a very distinct and energetic name. It sounds powerful, feminine and adventurous. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] create a beautiful, surprising sibset.

I did a fast research, and apparently, portuguese parents were not allowed to register [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] until 2017… I can’t understand why, but it is definitely one of the reasons why [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is so unexpected in Portugal.
I’m in Australia, and I don’t think I’ve ever met a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. I’d be delighted it I did! It’s such a fun and zippy name. I also think it works really nicely with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], because they share the “z” sound.
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is not a common name in Australia. I’ve never met one or heard of one.
I don’t think there’s any chance of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] becoming as popular as [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. It doesn’t have the same wide appeal or the fluid sounds that work so well across different languages.
I’ve lived in both [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and the UK, and I’ve never met or heard of anyone named [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. It’s very uncommon in both countries.
[name_m]Loving[/name_m] R0sa & [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] together
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is incredibly rare where I am (English berry) as other UK based berries have advised the name ranks in the 800s over here so it’s very rare and therefore I do not believe she’ll become the next [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
Also [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] doesn’t feel fit into any current trends so would standout amongst the crowd.
Sadly not common, I love the name Zelda. Conveniently, I do know a friend of the family having a little girl called Zelda as well as her sister Harley-Quinn but overall not common at all where I’m from
