As title. Curious to hear everyone’s stories!
Great question! I was looking up name meanings online, I suppose - I knew the database existed long before I knew there was a forum, and used to check it interchangeably with BtN, just for curiosity.
I think the forum eventually came up in google search results when I was looking for more than what the basic etymology could tell me about certain names! And I eventually signed up when OH and I started being serious about future baby names (although now, I’d say my name nerd activities are 80% just for fun and only 20% seriously about potential children)

I wanted unique names for my characters, and stumbled upon the Nameberry database. I was an avid reader of the articles and searched through the database, blissfully oblivious to the forums. One of the things that most attractive things about the site was Namehunter. I used to play with it a lot, and went frantic when I couldn’t find it. I still mourn the loss of Namehunter, which, in my humble opinion, was one of the best things to exist online. I don’t have any recollection of how I actually came to be on the forums, but I am glad I did. I lurked around for an year, maybe an year and a half, before I decided to sign up and join the fun!
It’s been a little over a year since I’ve been on the forums, and while I have lessened my use of the NB database, I absolutely love it here.

i was searching up sibling names for athena, my favorite name at the time! i then saw “forum.nameberry.com”, and i started seeing that link a ton whenever i searched up sibling names, and i always thought how cool it would be to join it. someday in ‘22, i decided that it would’ve marked the day i decided to join the forums. well, for some reason, my phone was glitching out and i was so sad to see i wasnt able to join the site. on june 14, 2022, i decided to try again, and to my relief, it worked! ( @ivorydiaries is my old account, thats when i joined nameberry )
no clue, although i’d assume i was looking for scandinavian names for my characters? 
before the big update, finding the forums was a lot more intuitive, so i probably stumbled across them by accident and got interested!
I always sort of ‘knew’ about NB since I started searching for character names (probably when I was about 11/12) but I didn’t really know about the forums until I was bored one summer and started exploring the site properly!
I was probably 13 when I found Nameberry (I’m 20 now)! I used the “similar names” feature to name characters in the stories I wrote then. I still use it for that same reason!
i found nameberry because of @snowmaiden! she introduced me to the forums and one day i decided to join and it’s been just the most fun.
I honestly don’t know how I came across it, but I was on vacation in 2021 and there was horrible reception, but I made it my mission to read the entirety of the Nameberry Memes thread 
I looked through my camera roll (I remember taking screenshots of some of the memes), and it seems as if I was looking for names like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], which I do remember loving at the time, and then I found a “10 [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names I [name_u]Love[/name_u], but Won’t Be Using” thread!
I was looking up nature names, trying to find really rare ones but I was getting frustrated because all of the ones from other pages/websites weren’t rare at all. Then by some luck I came across nameberry and made an account and then found the forums.
