I love the warm and handsome sound of the name [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] lately. How do you feel about this name? I googled and saw some people saying it reminds them of hair barrettes but I don’t get that vibe at all. If anything it reminds me of bears lol. Which is a positive association imo!
We’ve been considering [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] for this baby as well but it’s hard to lock one down. First son is [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] and his name came so easily to me at like 15 weeks pregnant and we never wavered on it, and never regretted it after he was born etc. For this baby, we are so not having that THE ONE moment!
I like it, and I think it works well with [name_m]Calvin[/name_m]. I also associate it with bears, and [name_m]Bear[/name_m] would be a cute nickname, too!
[name_m]Barrett[/name_m] is a great name! It’s a vintage surname as first name that has rugged outdoorsy vibes! It also has a lot of great nickname potential! (Bear, [name_m]Barry[/name_m] (which I personally love), Rhett.) It does remind me of bears We were going to use this name if our baby was a boy, but we are having a girl. I would LOVE seeing it used!!!

I think it goes really well with [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], and I do not think of hair barretts at all! I actually went to college with a [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] and it was such a nice name for them, solid and unique without being unrecognizable. It gives a similar warm and old fashioned but modern vibe that I get from [name_m]Calvin[/name_m].
[name_m]Barrett[/name_m] isnt in my naming style but I think it’s a very cute and sturdy name! I had a student named [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] and it fit him very well. I think it holds up well for a little boy and a man. I really love all the nickname options everyone listed. I think if [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] gives you that warm feeling it may be the right name for you!
I like it! I know guys with the name [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] and have never thought of Barrettes being tied to it. It’s similar in letters but they also have different sounds so I don’t really see them as too alike
I also think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] is the sweetest thing!
I think if you want a more modern pair with [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] I would go with [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] and if you want to go classic I’d go [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] or [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] is sort of in that sweet spot for me where it’s more modern but it has a classic feel to it in ways

Barrett is cute! Because the emphasis is on the opposite syllables I don’t think the connection between barrettes is too strong. I would naturally want to nickname him Brett, but if thars not your style he’s got a lot of other cute nicknames like Bear and Rett as well!
I absolutely LOVE that name!!! I haven’t come across it yet and I immediately added it to my list - especially with the nickname [name_m]Bear[/name_m]! If you love that name, I would go for it. I don’t think of hair barrettes at all.
