I’m thinking of naming my daughter azalea. Any thoughts or other suggestions. Thanks!!
I think it’s beautiful! I’d love to meet a little [name]Azalea[/name].
[name]Do[/name] you like nns? I think Zalie (prn Zay-lee, you could spell it other ways too) is a cute one if so!
But it maybe doesn’t lend itself hugely to nicknames, which is a plus if you don’t like them.
I think if you have more children, especially girls, this sets a tone for somewhat unusual names, but nothing bizarrely unusual either.
[name]How[/name] many syllables does your last name have?
For flow, since [name]Azalea[/name] has 4 (or 3.5 depending on how you say it), a variety of lengths of middle names will sound good.
Which will sound best will depend somewhat on your last name.
[name]Just[/name] brainstorming, I love [name]Azalea[/name] [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Azalea[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name].
I think a somewhat more common middle might be a nice balance.
Other somewhat unusual flower/plant names that capture the feel somewhat might be [name]Zinnia[/name] or [name]Linnea[/name].
Somewhat more popular in the same vane might be [name]Dahlia[/name] or [name]Hazel[/name].
Good luck!
Thank you! I already have a [name]Magnolia[/name], so I thought azalea would go well with that. Our last name is heart. I’m thinking
azalea opal vivienne heart
[name]Vivienne[/name] is my grandmother, and I just like the other two. Thanks!!
I love the idea and sound of it, but I think most people would have issues with its pronunciation. That being said, I do think [name]Magnolia[/name] and [name]Azalea[/name] go well together.
[name]Azalea[/name] [name]Opal[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] – I’m not so keen on the “[name]Opal[/name]” part because of the flow.
Some other thoughts:
[name]Azalea[/name] [name]Louise[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]

I have a friend who named her daughter Azalais (umlaut over the first A) which is an old French name (pronounced A-zah-lay). It’s so close to [name]Azalea[/name], I almost wish she had chosen that. As flower/plant names go, I think it’s quite nice.
I love, love, love [name]Azalea[/name]! And I think it’s great with [name]Magnolia[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you use a nickname for [name]Magnolia[/name]?
Actually, I’ve had [name]Melody[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Azalea[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] on our list, so I’m biased ;]
I absolutely love [name]Azalea[/name]! Such a pretty flower name, and I agree that Zalie/[name]Zelie[/name] is a cute nn. I absolutely love [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Opal[/name], and [name]Vivienne[/name] together but I agree that [name]Azalea[/name] [name]Opal[/name] is a bit hard to say. What about [name]Azalea[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Opal[/name]?
DH and I call her [name]Magnolia[/name], but I’m okay with her being called mags or [name]Maggie[/name] if she chooses. I’m thinking if azalea was too much, she could always shorten it to [name]Lea/name. I think zalie/zelie is cute too.
Thanks for all your responses!
I think [name]Azalea[/name] is beautiful - spunky on a little girl, classy on an adult. [name]Azalea[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name] are amazing together as well. [name]Both[/name] flower names, but both rare so it’s not in-your-face. Though one thing I would consider is that if you use [name]Azalea[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name], and other daughters you have would probably need to have flower names as well. I’d make sure you’ve got a couple more flower names up your sleeve before you’ve start on a theme.
I was thinking about the name [name]Azalea[/name] the other day - and think [name]Azalea[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] is great! Beautiful with [name]Magnolia[/name]!
Thank you everyone for your input. I have 1 week until my due date, so I will let you know what we decide.
