A lowy see us.
This was [name_u]Theo[/name_u]'s middle name on The Cosby Show, and it was my first exposure to the name, so I pronounce it the way they do: [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-low-ish-us
A-[name_m]Loy[/name_m]-Shis because that’s how my Great Great Grandpa prn his name.
[name_m]Al[/name_m]-low-ish-us
A-[name_m]Loy[/name_m]-See-Us
A-low-ISH-us
[name_m]Al[/name_m]-lou-ish-us
My grandfather always said it that way and he was raised at St. [name_m]Aloysius[/name_m] Orphanage.
Neither, I pronounce it more like A-loy-shus, but I’ve never come across anyone with it.
A-loy-cious
I’ve met an [name_m]Aloysius[/name_m] before and that’s how its pronounced. The second one on the poll.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-low-ish-us. That’s the name of a school near where I live, and that’s how it’s pronounced.
A (as in apple) - lo - ISH - iss
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-low-ish-us. My grandmother was in an orphanage called St. [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-low-ish-us.
al oh ee zhush
Aloe-Ish-Us.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-low-ish-uh so doesn’t make sense to me! I know it’s the “proper” English pronunciation but I’ve always pronounced it similar to the [name_m]German[/name_m] way (you can here it on Forvo, here: Aloysius pronunciation: How to pronounce Aloysius in English, German, French, Latin), even before I knew the English and [name_m]German[/name_m] ways.
