How do you pronounce Alexei?

Pretty straightforward, how do you pronounce the name [name_m]Alexei[/name_m]?

I’ve always liked it, I first heard it from the Romanov story. I love the nickname [name_u]Alex[/name_u]. The only question is how is it supposed to be pronounced? (I’ve heard a few different ways, but I’ll just hear what you guys have to say…)

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lex-ee here, but it’s one of those names I’ve only ever read.

Kind of between ah-lex-ee and a slight ah-lex-say (with the long A of “say” not the uh/ah sound a lot of -a ending names have), depending on the accent because I’ve known people with a few different Eastern European backgrounds using it.

I’ve known quite a few Alexeis/Alekseys, but I grew up in an area with a lot of Ukrainian/Russian people.
