I’ve known many people named [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], and they’ve all pronounced it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-LEESH-ah. I have honestly never heard it pronounced how your name is. I think your pronounciation is actually very beautiful, and I quite like it-- but I don’t think it is a common pronounciation in the English-speaking world and I would understand if you’d unfortunately have to always correct others. Words like delicious and malicious do have this same -lish sound, but I think a lot of people hear and are much more familiar with [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-LEESH-ah or [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-see-ah, and tend to rely on those pronounciations a lot more.
I’ve always heard [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] as being pronounced [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-LEESH-ah or [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-see-ah. I’ve never heard it pronounced the way you say it, although I see how you get that sound. It is unfortunate to have to correct pronunciation all the time, but I’m afraid it can’t be helped when there are much more common ways to say it out there.
A-leesh-a. I have come across an A-lee-see-a. [name_f]Every[/name_f] “A-lish-a” have had SH in their name.
I’ve known two Alicias, and they were both ah-[name_m]LISH[/name_m]-ah, so it’s the only way I know it. (although really, I think it was really more [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_m]LISH[/name_m]-yah…)
