How do you pronounce Anais?

I was wondering how you would pronounce [name]Anais[/name]? I have heard a few different ways. Thanks!

I knew a girl with this name in college and she pronounced it “ON-uh-ees.”

I believe the correct French pronunciation is [name]Ah[/name]-nah-ees. That is the way I say it.
The French writer [name]Ana[/name]”s [name]Nin[/name] also used this pronunciation.

Yeah, what she said. Her pronunciation seems a little clearer, but I think we are saying the same thing.

Having grown up around Frech speakers and also recently traveling to [name]France[/name], I have always heard it as “[name]Anne[/name]-eye-eese.” I think it’s very beautiful in its simplicity, but obviously, pronunciation is a roadblock.

Ditto what the pp’s have said. I’ve met two, and both said it an-eye-EES. I [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but unfortunately too many people have pointed out its similarity to “anus” for me to consider using it.
