[name]Bee[/name] - trix, or [name]Bee[/name] - ah - trix?
[name]BEE[/name]-uh-triks.
[name]Bee[/name]-uh-trix
[name]BEE[/name]-ah-trix
[name]Bee[/name]-ah-trix, although realistically I tend to say it like “bear-trix”, I’m an awful mumbler
[name]Bee[/name]-Uh-[name]Trix[/name], just like [name]Beatrice[/name] but with the ‘[name]Trix[/name]’.
Dutch pronunciation is
[name]Bay[/name]-ah-trix
I like the name, but it’s so strongly associated with our queen, which makes it sound quite old and formal for me.
I don’t know if it is the French Canadian/[name]German[/name] influence but I say:
[name]Bay[/name]-a-trix
and for [name]Beatrice[/name] - [name]Bay[/name]-a-treese
Oddly, though, my daughter’s nickname is [name]Bea[/name], we say “[name]Bee[/name]” (her full name is not [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrice[/name]). A friend of mine who’s daughter is half French and named [name]Beatrice[/name] ([name]Bay[/name]-a-treese) is called “[name]Bay[/name]-a”.
Huh. I’ve always been saying it [name]BEE[/name]-trix. I don’t know any in real life, but I was liking it together as a double name with [name]Billie[/name]: [name]Billie[/name] [name]BEE[/name]-trix.
[name]Bee[/name]-ah-trix for me, as well.
I say [name]Bee[/name]-uh-triks.
Usually [name]BEE[/name]-uh-trix, but I’ve heard it as [name]BAY[/name]-uh-trix as well.
[name]Bee[/name]-ah-trix…
I say [name]BEE[/name]-trix, but honestly I like [name]Bee[/name]-uh-trix or [name]Bay[/name]-uh-trix better. But if I saw one on an attendance sheet I’d say [name]BEE[/name]-trix. I also pronounce [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Bee[/name]-tris.
[name]BEE[/name]-ah-trix
Yes, like [name]Beatrice[/name] with tricks, not triss.
Most English speakers would pronounce it like “[name]BEE[/name]-uh-triks”.
That’s weird, I’ve never heard it said with 2 syllables. Sounds very strange that way.
I know my great aunt said [name]Bee[/name]-tricks when she said [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] (my earliest exposure to the name I suppose).
It’s interchangeable for me between that and [name]Bee[/name]-uh-tricks
bee-uh-trix. I’ve never heard it said bee-trix before.
