[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_m]Callum[/name_m]? I’ve researched it a bit, and I was saying [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um, but I think it’s more like [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum?

I’ve been saying [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um, too. I think I like [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum more, though. I’m curious to see which is correct/traditional.

I say and have only ever heard [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um. I know there’s a name (the Latin for sky) Caelum said [name_u]Kai[/name_u]-lum, but I’m not sure about [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum.

I know two Callums under 2yo and their parents say [name_u]Cal[/name_u] - um. One set is Irish, the other Canadian.

I pronounce [name_m]Callum[/name_m], and have only heard it pronounced, [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um.

I thought I may get some conflicting answers… I’ve heard it on TV twice now, both times pronounced [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum.

To look at it, it only makes sense to me that it’s [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um. But I dunno. I like it both ways, [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum maybe slightly more with the middle [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], as it is in my signature.

I’ve always pronounced it somewhere between [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-um and [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-lum. Have you checked Forvo? It’s where I go when I want to know the correct pronunciation for certain names. I find it a bit more reliable than BehindTheName for pronunciations.

I’ve been pronouncing it KUHL-um. [name_m]Callum[/name_m]/[name_m]Colum[/name_m] is a form of [name_m]Colm[/name_m] and derives from [name_u]Colombe[/name_u], so I’ve always thought that was the correct pronunciation. I could be wrong, but I hope that I’m not, because I love the nickname [name_m]Cully[/name_m]!

[name_m]KAL[/name_m]-uhm is how I say it.

I always pronounce it in my head as [name_u]KAY[/name_u]-lum, but I’ve never met anyone with that name in real life and I’m pretty sure I’m pronouncing it wrong. I like the sound of [name_u]KAY[/name_u]-lum, and I named a character of mine Caelum once.

I think Chrisco is right in terms of traditional Irish versions, but its Anglicized version is most definitely [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-uhm. I would never dream of pronouncing it [name_f]Cay[/name_f]-luhm, and I think my friends named [name_m]Callum[/name_m] would kill me!

Here in the UK, this is quite a popular name (I have known several boys with this name), and they ALL pronounce it cal-um. On forvo, both pronunciations offered say cal-um as well. [name_u]Kay[/name_u]-lum, Col-um or any other pronunciation is WRONG, IMHO! [name_m]Callum[/name_m] nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u] is really cute (though I prefer [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] because of personal associations with [name_m]Callum[/name_m]).

I know a few Callums, all pronounced this way. One goes by the nickname [name_m]Cully[/name_m] exclusively.
I do also know a Calim, pronounced [name_u]KAY[/name_u]-lim
