Hmmm, that’s interesting. I was thinking just the opposite; that the latter pronunciation was more feminine. I like the name because of Emperor St. [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]. I think that’s why I view it as more masculine.
Really? I didn’t know there was more than one pronunciation available! I have always said KON-stan-teen. But I could see KON-stan-tine, too. I suppose I can see the other because of Constantinople, the city, but that has added syllables and it doesn’t have the “E” after the “N” to make the “I” long…

I would only use the “tin” ending if I’m saying Constantinople
More like the second pronunciation for me - although as a middle name I don’t suppose it would get too much mispronunciation trouble?
I guess I pronouce it KON-stan-teen also, for some reason I’ve been wanting to stress the last syllable but I don’t actually do it.
I was rather surprised to hear the name pronounced to rhyme with [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (the holiday) last week, has anyone else heard that? It was in a British film I think…
With this spelling I’d pronounce it Kon-stan-teen and probably would emphasise the last syllable.
If spelled [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u], I’d pronounce it it KON-stan-tin in English.
