[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and I pronounce it like eh-LEN-uh (though the LEN part is soft and slow, more like eh-LEHN-uh). I’m from Croatia, if that helps.
I only ever say this as eh-LEN-ah, eh-LAY-nuh is [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] or [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] for me
It depends. Eh-LAY-nuh, mostly, unless I’m speaking a language like Spanish, in which case Eh-LEN-uh.
I say [name_f]El[/name_f]- EE-NUH, like the barbie character.
I switch between eh-LAY-nuh & eh-LEN-uh. eh-LAY-nuh is how I pronounced it for years, though.
Upon seeing it, I do automatically say eh-LAY-nuh in my head (so that got my vote here) though I think I actually do prefer eh-LEHN-uh.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] is eh-LAY-nuh for me, but I grew up on The Vampire Diaries lol
[name_f]My[/name_f] best friend is named [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and we pronounce it EH leh nuh.
[name_m]Ive[/name_m] only known one, who says it uh-LAY-nuh, so that’s what I default to.
I voted Ellen-ah as it was the closest but i had never thought of it as ellen with an A at the end.
I pronounce and prefer elle-ehn-ah. I knew someone with this pronounciation when i was young, her parents were greek.
I agree eh lay nuh I would assume is Alaina/Elaina spelling
I had a teacher called that and she used
“el-UH-na”
Eh-lay-na.
I’ve had students who pronounce it both Eh-LEN-uh and Eh-LAY-nuh.
