I read that the original British pronunciation was “Eev-lin”, but that it was altered to “Ev-uh-lin” through association with the continental [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. I have never met an [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], but I think the second pronunciation is the default these days, so you probably won’t need to worry about it.
