How do you pronounce Isaac?

In [name_m]Oz[/name_m], (as far as I know) everyone pronounces it: EYE-[name_m]Zac[/name_m]. The ‘S’ pronounced as a ‘Z’. However, I’ve noticed that one of the mothers in Teen Mom pronounces her son’s name: EYE-Zic. I was just curious is this a common alternate pronunciation and whether we say it right.

I’ve heard it pronounced both ways. I think it depends on your accent. “Eye-Zic” comes more naturally to me.

Eye zic in the US.

I think EYE-zack is how all Australians pronounce [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], but there’s a slight difference in [name_u]America[/name_u] (more like EYE-zick).

My generic us accent pronounces it eye-zick

Here in the United States, it’s generally pronounced “eye-zick.”

I’ll join the American chorus : I say EYE-zick.

Eyes-ik
But it’s just my accent. I would say the proper way is Eye-zac

I live in the PNW and I pronounce it eye zac.

It is my understanding the majority of AUZ/NZ say Eye-[name_m]Zac[/name_m].

I believe both are correct. The pronunciation varies depending on where you live. I say eye-zick because it come more naturally to me. I live in the US.

Another American here, so “EYE-zick.”

I’m Canadian and I say it EYE-zik.

I love teen mom! Lol! That [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is a cutie, and so is his brother [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]!!

I think in regular conversation, I would probably say “eye-zik,” like how someone might say “[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]” instead of “Kath-ER-ine,” but if I was introducing someone named [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], I would make an effort to say “eye-zak,” if that makes any sense!

Yeah, I’ve only ever heard it as EYE-zihk, too (or EYE-zehk? It’s not a strong ICK sound, more eh or maybe even ah (more “eh” though, I think). Definitely not that strong “A” sound like in “apple” or “and”. I do like the Australian pronunciation, though, and I’m sort of curious how British people say it–closer to the American or Australian pronunciation?

I’m an American and I pronounce it eye-zick.

EYE-z’c. We sort of omit the vowels entirely.
