LAR-ah is how I pronounce lara.
I prefer [name_f]Laura[/name_f] it seems to have less confusion on pronunciation and to me they are basically the same name.

[name_f]Lara[/name_f] (LAR-a) is a lovely name, and [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is a beautiful combo! I also like [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], which might fit your criterion of slightly past-their-peak UK favourites too? I much prefer [name_f]Lara[/name_f] to [name_f]Laura[/name_f], which is just soooo popular for my generation where I live.

I like the [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] combo, so pretty! I pronounce [name_f]Lara[/name_f] as LAR-uh.

I’ve only heard it pronounced as lair-uh, as in [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] on Good [name_f]Morning[/name_f] [name_u]America[/name_u].

It’s LAR-ah for me. I never knew there was another pronunciation until now.

Phew, I’m glad everyone pronounces it LAR-ah, as that’s how I say it too!

My first guess is that it’s just [name_f]Laura[/name_f] without the u, so I would still pronounce it like [name_f]Laura[/name_f].

I’ve always pronounced it lah-rah (rhyming with bar, car, etc.). Both pronunciations are legitimate to me though. I think it’s one of those names that will be pronounced wrong at some point whichever way you pronounce it.
