For me, [name]LEE[/name]-[name]Ra[/name] is [name]Lera[/name] and LEER-ah is Leera. I have taught one girl named Aleera and she said her name [name]AH[/name]-leer-ah, so this probably has something to do with it. I voted fro LIE-ra for [name]Lyra[/name] because of the word, “[name]Lyre[/name].”

Lie ruh. Very pretty!

Lie-ruh is what i would say. [name]Lee[/name]-ruh doesn’t sound as pretty to me cause I hear the word “leer” in there, almost like Leerer- like a person who is leering.

I say lie-ruh, usually. Occasionally I think it sounds better as leeruh. Like you’re going to say lyric or lyrica.

It’s lie-ruh like the instrument, the [name]Lyre[/name].

I say Lie-rah as well, mainly because that is the name of the main character in His Dark Materials by [name]Philip[/name] Pullman and when they made a movie of the first one, The [name]Golden[/name] Compass, that is how they pronounced the name in the movie.

I’ve only ever heard it pronounced Lie-ruh, like the constellation. Very pretty name

I’ve only ever heard it pronounced [name]LEE[/name]-ra, like [name]Lyric[/name], a word that shares the same root. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear LIE-ra, but I’ve met two Lyras and both said [name]LEE[/name]-ra, so that would be my first guess.

I say LIE-rah and that’s all I’ve ever heard, but I used to love the idea of [name]Lyra[/name] said like [name]LEE[/name]-rah.

I am torn. I want to say Lie-rah because it means lyre. On the other hand it reminds me of lyrics and makes me want to say [name]Lee[/name]-ruh. In general I would prefer the [name]Lee[/name]-rah pronunciation so that is what I voted for.

I’ve only ever heard LIE-rah. I would assume that someone called [name]LEE[/name]-rah spelled her name Lira or [name]Lera[/name].

I’ve only ever heard Lie-rah.
