I pronounce [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with a [name_f]LINE[/name_f] ending and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] with a [name_u]LYN[/name_u] ending.
Same here.
I instinctively say -lyn as someone I’m close to spells her name that way and pronounces it that way. In theory though, I would say -line and say [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] as -lyn. To avoid that confusion if I wanted it pronounced -line, I would spell it [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - mad-uh-line
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] - mad-uh-lyn
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]- mad-uh-len
That’s how I pronounce them. Although, I see no problem in spelling it [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and having it pronounce mad-uh-lyn
Yup, me too.
While everyone is technically correct, I know several mad uh lyn’s, and they all use the [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] spelling.
It sounds better as line
See, the problem here is that I would consider [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] to be pronounced differently. I would say [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] with an -len ending not -line.
