How do you pronounce Marceline?

[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is one of my favourite names, however I’ve noticed some subtle variation in the way people pronounce it.

I’ve heard:

[name_f]MAR[/name_f]-suh-leen

[name_f]MAR[/name_f]-suh-lyn

or mar-suh-LEEN

The differences are so subtle that it doesn’t really bother me, I’m just wondering which is the most common.

mar-suh-LEEN

I say:

mar-seh-LEEN

I’ve never met one, but I say it mar-suh-LEEN.

Thanks! That’s how I pronounce it too

somewhere between mar-sah-leen and mar-seh- leen.

[name_m]Ive[/name_m] only ever heard the name pronounced on Adventure Time, and thats how they do it. Its a pretty name

I pronounce it mar-seh-LEEN.

Yep, mar-seh-LEEN. I’ve also heard [name_f]MAR[/name_f]-seh-leen, but never [name_f]MAR[/name_f]-seh-lyn. That sounds very odd to my ears.

mar-seh-LEEN the vampire queen from adventure time.

mar-suh-LEEN

[name_f]Mar[/name_f]-ce-LEEN. So [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- and then celine as in [name_f]Celine[/name_f] [name_m]Dion[/name_m].

mar-seh-leen

mar-seh-LEEN

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Great name! But I thought I’d throw in my two cents since no one has written the pronunciation for [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] that is most common to me.

[name_f]Mar[/name_f]-che-leen. I think it’s an Italian pronunciation!

Best!

There’s a character on the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time named [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], and she pronounces it like mar-suh-LEEN. This is also how I would pronounce it if I ever met anybody with the name.

I say [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-seh-leen or mar-che-leen.

[name_f]Mar[/name_f]-seh-LEEN, again. Great name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] as nn. SO CUTE.

I would have pronounced it mar-cell-een, with no emphasis. Cell as in cell phone or biological cell.

Whoops…

I think it’s equally [name_f]MAR[/name_f]-seh-leen and [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-seh-LEEN. I tend to say “[name_f]MAR[/name_f]-seh-leen”. Definitely not -lyn, though.

I love this name. It’s dark and gothic with the Adventure Time character association but at the same time warm and romantic.
