How do you pronounce Niko and Nikolai?

I pronounce [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] “NIH-ka-liss” and I always used to think [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] was pronounced “NIH-ka-lye”. I’ve never met a [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], but I had come across a [name_u]Niko[/name_u] (not 100% sure if that was the spelling) and it was pronounced NEE-ko, so after that I figured [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] must be NEE-ko-lye. I’m guessing the latter is probably the correct pronunciation but I’m second guessing myself and wondering if this is actually right?

Nee-koh-LYE is the correct pronounciation of [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m].

The correct pronunciation is Neek-uh-Lie, but I think [name_u]Nik[/name_u]-oh-lie and neek-uh-lie are pretty interchangeable. [name_f]Imo[/name_f] Neek-uh-lie is more attractive. But [name_u]Niko[/name_u] is always Nee-ko, unless your trying to do a [name_m]Steve[/name_m]-O nickname with [name_u]Nick[/name_u]…

[name_u]Niko[/name_u] or [name_u]Nico[/name_u] I say NEE-ko. [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] I (a Canadian with no Russian heritage) say NIH-kuh-lye, though I would imagine it would be pronounced more like NEE-ko-lye with different accents.
