Spell it Peregrine and it sounds like “grin”. 
Will he have the nn Perry or no nickname?
Tell you what–I’ll ask around before I vote. I pronounce it with the “sounds like grin” ending, and I didn’t think it was a difficult name, but maybe I’ll do a little personal polling to see if I get a different impression. I would incline toward the traditional E-ending, unless I find people really do have a hard time with it. Tell them to watch the [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings movies!

I live in the United States, and I’ve always thought [name]Peregrine[/name] was with the “green” ending, like the bird… I thought it was one of those words names…sorry. I’m not very worldly though, so…
I never knew it was a question, I’ve always said it as “grin” at the end.

I pronounce it “sounds like grin” just like the bird and would like it spelled the traditional way, but you’re right, Tolkien did spell is [name]Peregrin[/name], so if you want to spell it that way to avoid the problem, i have less of a problem than I normally would with it.
Actually, I never knew it would be an issue. [name]Just[/name] don’t let it bother you! It’s a great name that goes well with your other boys (whom I’m sure had pronunciation problems of their own ^_^) and you both love it! You finally have a name so don’t let a little mispronunciation turn you away from it!
I know it as sounds like grin too like the bird, am late on the LOTR train but unless you want to be associated with the LOTR fandom (not that it’s a bad thing!) I would keep the E at the end.

I say it with the soft “I” ending, and I say keep the [name]Peregrine[/name] spelling, definitely!
I think this one is more a matter of how to handle the spelling. So far at least a third of the votes are for non-grin pronunciations, and that’s the approximate ratio I found when I fished for feedback at another site. I’m actually really surprised but if that’s what people guess then that’s probably always what people are going to guess.

Yes, I knew Tolkien spelled it [name]Peregrin[/name]. My point was that the pronunciations are identical, but my first post didn’t make that clear. Sorry.
Besides, even if you do decide to spell it [name]Peregrin[/name], I don’t think a huge amount of people are too aware of his name. I know a lot of the people I know have only seen the movies and they only call him [name]Peregrin[/name] once or twice.
Besides, no matter how you spell it, someone is likely to misspell or mispronounce it at some point (like Zephan >.<) Love it still though!
I just looked up “peregrine” in my [name]Webster[/name]'s Third International Dictionary, and guess what? It says that all three of your pronunciations are correct, in that order: last syllable sounds like “grin”, sounds like “green”, and rhymes with “brine.” So apparently the question is not which pronunciation is correct, but which do you prefer. And it’s good to know which one is most common.
I apologize to previous posters if I seemed at all abrupt in my earlier posts. I need to make sure of what I’m talking about before I post it!
From my experience, it doesn’t matter how a name is spelled, someone, at some point is going to say it or spell it wrong. Sometimes even if you do it for them 
I have always used the grin ending with reference to the bird. I love the name, and would use the “ine” spelling because that is the spelling for the falcon.
I say “grin” at the end, just like the [name]Peregrine[/name] falcon. I say keep the traditional spelling… “[name]Peregrin[/name]” looks really weird and incomplete in my opinion.
