How do you pronounce Selah?

We have a [name_f]Selah[/name_f] (Say-luh). and most ppl have an easy time with this pronunciation.

I think the thought is that the official/original pronunciation was Seh-lah.

Yes, I always thought Seh-lah was the only way to say it, but I am a way bigger fan of Say-lah! :slight_smile:

I always see say-la on this site but I have yet to see that pronunciation listed on any etymology site that I trust. I love the say-la pronunciation but i have the Saela spelling on my list for this reason (and because it gets rid of the religious/biblical association).

i used to say say-lah instinctively, but now i say see-lah. i much prefer say-lah.

Say-luh! I never quite know how it’s meant to be pn but I enjoy that one best

I’ve always said SEE-luh, didn’t even occur to me before nb that this could be pronounced SAY-luh. I much prefer SEE-luh

I know an older lady named [name_f]Selah[/name_f] - she pronounces it say-luh! I didn’t know there was another pronunciation until I saw people talk about it on here :sweat_smile:

The See-lah and Say-lah pronunciations are both incorrect. The only correct pronunciation is Seh-lah.
