How do you pronounce Theodora?

I want to make sure I am pronouncing it correctly! I think it’s thee-ah-dora but I’m not certain. I’ve tried listening to the pronunciation online but it was always pronounced with an accent and I couldn’t work out how I’d say it without coming off as if I’m bad at faking the Greek accent.

I pronounce it ‘thee-ә-DOOR-a’ (th like thought). I don’t know if that’s right though, or if you’re meant to stress the ‘oh’.

[name_f]EDIT[/name_f]:: [name_m]Just[/name_m] listened to the Greek pronunciation and they say ‘tay-oh-DOOR-a’.

When I say it comes out sounding halfway between thee-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-dor-ah and thee-OH-dor-ah.

You have the right pronunciation. It is essentially [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (thee-oh-door / thee-oh-dor) with a ‘ra’ on the end. [name_m]Just[/name_m] put [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_f]Dora[/name_f] together, and you have [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. I personally don’t particularly stress any syllables when I say it, but I’ve heard people stress the ‘oh’, the ‘thee’ and the ‘dora’.

English is my native tongue so I pronounce it like you do. I stress the second syllable (ah or uh).

Thank you all, clears this up a lot! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] it’s the same (or around about) the pronunciation I assumed.
