so i’ve had a big crush on selah recently. i love that it’s biblical, rare, and has a musical and earthy meaning, and the spelling is just so pretty!
i’ve heard two pronunciations, and though i prefer one, i’d like to know what you guys think.
SAY-luh
SEEL-uh

also, i’m having a hard time finding a selah pairing that i really love. i have selah olive currently, but i just don’t know about it…
if it helps, i love nature middle names, like blossom and lavender, and quirky old fashioned middle names like harriet and imogen.
I don’t pronounce it either of these ways! They never occurred to me!! I pronounce it “SELL-uh.” I went to school with a girl names [name_f]Cella[/name_f] (pronounced “SELL-uh”) for years, and I always assumed that [name_f]Selah[/name_f] was another way to spell [name_f]Cella[/name_f]! How cool that there are these other pronounciations! [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] name.
Also, I absolutely adore [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. Those are glorious.
@snowmaiden and @veneziosell-uh is gorgeous!! i’ve only met two selah’s and they pronounced them these two ways! it makes me happy that any of these would work
I also say Sell-uh. I know a [name_f]Sela[/name_f], so I would pronounce any variation (Selah, Sella, [name_f]Cella[/name_f], [name_f]Cela[/name_f], etc) the same way unless corrected. But I do think both of the pronunciations you listed are also beautiful.
I love [name_f]Selah[/name_f]! So beautiful, great Biblical meaning.
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] and [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] are fantastic. [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Bloom[/name_f], which would be pretty, too.
Other ideas (probably more in line with your “quirky old-fashioned” description):
This is one of my favorite names and I’ve always pronounced it Say-luh. I’ve only ever known one in person and that’s how her name was pronounced too.
I second the other suggestions of [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f].
Some additional alternates - on the old fashioned side - [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. And on the nature front - [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] Lake/Lakely.
[name_f]My[/name_f] fav may be [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
