A boss at work has a [name_f]Thea[/name_f], pronounced [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-ah, so that’s what I think of! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
I only heard the [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-ah pronunciation for the first time today, after watching Master Chef [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. Thus the thread! I didn’t know anyone said it that way!
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is thee-uh for me. [name_f]Tea[/name_f] or [name_f]Taya[/name_f] would be tay-uh.
I say thee-ah, but honestly I think it’s one of those names with multiple common enough pronunciations that you’ll have to explain it sometimes whichever one you pick.
I voted [name_f]Thea[/name_f] because that is what I tend to think upon seeing this name, but that said, the only [name_f]Thea[/name_f] I actually know pronounces it [name_u]TAY[/name_u]-a, so I would probably ask rather than assume.
This is my main issue with this name, I never know which pronunciation to use. I usually assume it’s thee-ah, but I personally like thay-ah better. [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-ah is pretty too, but I wouldn’t assume it first because the “Th” at the beginning throws me off.
I would instinctively pronounce it THEE-a, but I can see how in other languages it would be pronounced like [name_u]TAY[/name_u]-a. I would never have thought of pronouncing it THAY-a though.
