For me, it depends on what the full name is. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be ee - vee, while [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]/[name_u]Everly[/name_u] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be eh - vee. If I just saw [name_f]Evie[/name_f] by itself, I think I would use the ee pronunciation, because of the similarity to [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I know an [name_f]Eve[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. She pronounces it EE-vee. I also met an [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] who goes by [name_f]Evie[/name_f], also pronounced EE-vee. If you are going for EV-vee, spell it [name_f]Evi[/name_f] or [name_f]Evy[/name_f].

There are hundreds of ee-vies in the UK. Anything other than that pen would get raised eyebrows I think.

I’ve met people who had kids [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and they all pronounced it Ee-vee. That’s how I pronounce it, too. It doesn’t matter what [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is short for, [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], I always pronounce it that way.

I’ve only heard [name_f]Evie[/name_f] pronounced EE-vee, but I wouldn’t be taken aback at all by an EH-vee (though I’d assume it were spelled [name_f]Evi[/name_f]).

So my daughters actual name (not nickname) is [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. We pronounce it Eh-Vee not EE-Vee. It’s a family name that has been passed down for generations. In most countries they pronounce it as Eh-vee, but in [name_u]America[/name_u] it’s different. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] sounds the same, as in sounding like an “Eh” for the EV in all the names associated with [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. I almost wish I would’ve spelt it as Eveigh…maybe then strangers would pronounce it the way we do? I think of The name [name_u]Evan[/name_u]. You don’t say it like EE-[name_u]Van[/name_u], so why would [name_f]Evie[/name_f] be pronounced EE-vie :woman_shrugging:t3::woman_shrugging:t3:

I usually say ee-vee but I’ve heard eh-vee also so I just think it comes down to personal preference. The same as how [name_f]Cara[/name_f] can be pronounced care-uh or car-uh.
