[name_f]My[/name_f] name is Amitha, and in the entirety of my life, about 3 people have gotten it right first-try. It’s not that hard, but it’s certainly unusual in the US. It’s intended to be pronounced uh-mih-thuh, with no accent anywhere, but I get a lot of A-mih-thah. So I just go by [name_u]Ami[/name_u], which is UH-mee, but people like to say it like [name_f]Amy[/name_f].
I’ve been called everything from [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Annika[/name_f] to [name_u]Akira[/name_u] to Amy-Lou (?)!
