The name we love for our daughter gives us the initials: E.A.R.
I know it doesn’t spell anything bad but I don’t want to set her up for getting made fun of. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think kids will pick up on this and make fun?! Am I over-reacting? All the best middle names seem to start with A. I considered adding a second middle name just so the initials don’t spell anything, but I’m not loving it. I’d appreciate everyone’s thoughts!
I had literally never thought about “good” or “bad” initials, or what anyone’s initials are, until I saw it on Nameberry.
I feel like the chances of someone putting two and two together and realising that her initials spell EAR is pretty unlikely, especially since most people wouldn’t know or remember her middle name. Unless it spells something horrible like f***, I don’t think it matters.
I wouldn’t worry about it at all. Initials are rarely used, and in this case I don’t think I would even notice that her initials spelled something unless it was pointed out to me.
Sidenote: In my area, monogrammed baby and children’s items/clothing are pretty common, and you could also monogram in the style that be last initial is in the middle. [name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I’d throw that out there, if that would ever be a thought or concern.
I wouldn’t worry. Like PP, I too didn’t even give initials a second thought before I came across Nameberry and saw people here worried about it. I think you’re overreacting, don’t worry!
I don’t think it would be a problem! If it spelled something bad I’d worry but initials hardly come up and when they do I bet it’ll just be a quick laugh at most.
As long as her initials don’t obviously lead to something vulgar I think it’s ok.
One to watch out for is how a work email might look in the future depending on your last name. For example: [name_u]Elias[/name_u] Cho = echo@email.com or [name_m]Keane[/name_m] [name_m]Roberts[/name_m] = keaner@company.com.
I dont see it as a problem! The reality is, at school and work etc she would most likely just use E.R not her middle initial.
It certainly could be worse but I personally wouldn’t let it worry you
