I keep heering different pronunciations from “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-tris” to “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ə-tris”. [name_m]How[/name_m] do YOU pronounce it?
I fluctuate between the two, but usually my status quo is this:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]: “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-a-tris”
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]: “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-trix” never “bee-a”
I’m not sure why I have different pronunciations for both, but that’s what they are.
I love both equally!
It might depend where you’re from? I pronounce it as [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-uh-tris. I’ve always thought of the [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-tris pronunciation as a slurred version of [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-uh-tris.
I guess it works like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. I’ve heard some people pronounce it as KATH-rin, not KATH-uh-rin.
Like “bee-uh-triss”
I say [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ə-tris (and [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ə-trix for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]).
Exactly. ![]()
I would say [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ah-trice of [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-ah-trice
[name_u]Bay[/name_u]-ah-tree-chay (italian) or [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-ah-trees (it’s swedish pronounciation).
