I was cycling through my list of names I had to remove from my top name choices this morning and remembered the name [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. We have planned on naming our first son [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Kenton[/name_m] for a long time now and I can’t have 2/3 of [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] and the Chipmunks… I had a sudden realization that I unfortunately also have the Chippette name of [name_f]Brittany[/name_f]! In the same thought I had to remove the name [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] for good (my husband had already vetoed it but I was still trying to convince him).
My question is, how many people actually remember all of the chipmunk’s names? Would you connect mine and my son’s names if you heard them together? Am I needlessly stressing over this?!

The only one that makes me think of the chipmunk is [name_m]Alvin[/name_m], really. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m] are more common, with various other association so I sincerely doubt many people will make the chipmunk association.
While I can name all the chipmunks/chipettes if asked, I agree that [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (and [name_f]Britany[/name_f] and [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]) have a strong enough history of use that it’s not where I would immediately go.

if you had [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] with the others I might have noticed, but with just [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m] probably not. I’m not as familiar with the chippettes, so I wouldn’t have made that connection at all.
I think you may be overthinking the relevance of [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] and the Chipmunks a little bit - as others have said, unless you had [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] in there, it wouldn’t be an issue, regardless of how many of the characters’ names are used.
I only know the original [name_m]Alvin[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. But unless you had three boys called those names I wouldn’t notice. And [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was soooo cute, who cares?! 
Well, I’m apparently in the minority here (which could still put your mind at ease lol), but I would automatically think of the chipmunks if I heard of brothers named [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]…even if [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] is not included. I think some of the younger generation might be able to make the same connections…there have been a few chipmunks movies released over the last few years.
As far as the girl chipmunks, I don’t think I ever really knew their names lol.
