I first learned of and really began to like the name [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] about 15 years ago while living in [name_m]South[/name_m] [name_f]America[/name_f]. Fast forward to today, I know this name is rapidly gaining popularity in the US, though I have only met or heard of two Eliana’s here. How popular is [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] where you live? I would usually avoid a name that is so high on the charts (18!), but [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] feels perfect- biblical meaning, international/works well in [name_f]English[/name_f] and Spanish, goes well with my other children’s names and would allow me to use nn [name_f]Ana[/name_f], which is a name that I love even on its own. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] Also, [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] would allow me to honor a [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] and several family members with “Ann-“ names.
[name_f][/name_f]
I have the double barrel Ana-Lucia high on my list, but I’m now considering [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] as a first and middle combo.
[name_f][/name_f]
A couple of other contenders: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lidia[/name_f] / [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] (I would go more for the LEE-dee-uh pronunciation.)
I live in Central [name_m]Texas[/name_m], to help answer your question. [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is so beautiful and has such a nice ring to it. However, I am a total sucker for [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] and Magdaleno as names because they are so beautiful, and seemingly very rare where I live.
[name_f][/name_f]
I think that [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is gaining popularity like you said, but also names with that rhythm seem to be more popular in general. [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] is a big “competitor” if you want to call it that haha. Giving her a second name to go with it would help with making it feel more individual to her.
[name_f][/name_f]
Arriah (like ah-RI-ah, RI rhyming with sky), [name_f]Moriah[/name_f], and [name_f]Sariyah[/name_f] are all names of people in my community of roughly the same age. They all rhyme and people do get them confused. I don’t know if this example will be helpful but I hope it is.
I adore Eliana; I even used it as my late daughters middle name. But, it is gaining in popularity and may be lost in a sea of other [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] / [name_f]Ana[/name_f] names. I personally know at least seven Eliana’s, all under the age of 10 with various spellings, which is why it was never a personal contender as a first name. I also live in the southern part of the US. [name_f][/name_f]However, I don’t think the popularity of a name should keep you from using it, and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] are both stunning combos. I slightly prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], but [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is just as beautiful. [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eliora[/name_f] is a name I would suggest as a possible replacement, but it does lack the [name_f]Ana[/name_f] connection. You could also go with just [name_f]Liana[/name_f] which would make it slightly more unique than the full [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], but only if you are truly unsure of Eliana’s popularity
Where I live I have only ever met two people with the name and only one with this spelling. [name_f][/name_f]I think it’s a lovely name and a great way to bring in some Spanish heritage. [name_f][/name_f]I personally would say it’s not a super popular name and it is a great alternative to current top spots like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f]I love the other names you have mentioned and the combo with [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is lovely and rolls together very seamlessly.
I’m located in the southeast US, and I’ve met only one [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], but a LOT of Ellie’s (Elizabeth, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], etc.). [name_f][/name_f]However, [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] really does feel like the perfect name for you – the meaning, so many honors available, as well as being able to use Ana-Lucia with the middle (Eliana [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is so pretty!) – so I’d go for it!
I love [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] It’s such a beautiful name and I love the meaning in Hebrew.
[name_f][/name_f]
Ironically I don’t know any Eliana’s, but I do know it’s been rising in popularity (didn’t realize it was top 20 though!). [name_f][/name_f] It is a little less popular in my state but it is still in the top 50 here. [name_f][/name_f] Personally, I would still use it if it was at the top of my list!
[name_f][/name_f]
Another option might be [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]? [name_f][/name_f] Similar sound to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] though it doesn’t have the option for [name_f]Ana[/name_f] as a nickname and I don’t know that it has the dual ties to Latino culture like [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] does, but I think sound wise, it would work pretty well in Spanish and [name_f]English[/name_f], and it has a beautiful meaning.
I’m in the US, and I’ve only met 1 [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (this spelling). Interestingly, the [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] I know has a sister named [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] are both beautiful! [name_f]My[/name_f] personal pick would be [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] simply because it flows better when I say it. But if flow doesn’t bother you, then I’d say go for [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
I’m located in [name_f]England[/name_f] and I’ve never encountered an [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] she’s not as rare as I thought as she ranks at #189[name_f][/name_f] in the UK popularity naming charts but still I’m yet to meet one. I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is gorgeous. [name_f]Pretty[/name_f], stylish, has a melodic sound, lovely meaning and I love the nickname potential. I absolutely love [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] as I love the grandeur of [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] however I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] in honour of yourself would be lovely. I say go for it.
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is a sweet, solid and international name! I’ve met maybe one or two in the UK [name_f][/name_f]- but I think it feels[name_f][/name_f] more popular thanks to its similarity to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Leanna[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f] etc. Still, it makes a good choice and still manages to have a touch of flair!
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], though Ana-Lucia is gorgeous! [name_f]Lidia[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is so pretty and bright too
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is a nice name…I wouldn’t call it biblical as it doesn’t feature in the bible, but it is a Hebrew name.
[name_f][/name_f]
In the UK it’s gradually getting more popular. In the last rankings (2023) it was ranked #155[name_f][/name_f]. In 2022 it was #180[name_f][/name_f], back in 2015 it was #249[name_f][/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
In the UK i’ve only ever met one Eliana/Elliana. But I also know of one in [name_f]Canada[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
But in the UK [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] names are super popular, so it feels like just another [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] name. There are so many…Eleanor, [name_f]Eliora[/name_f], [name_f]Elara[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
I also know 2 girls called [name_f]Liana[/name_f], which I think I prefer.
[name_f][/name_f]
I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is a nicer combo than [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], but I’m not a big fan of your pronunciation of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] ‘Liddy’ [name_f][/name_f]- lid-ee-uh
[name_f][/name_f]
Ana-Lucia is gorgeous! [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is also nice though.
I am in the US southeast and work with children. I’ve met maybe four or five?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is a beautiful pick. As others have said, she’s rising in popularity globally and also has many popular soundalike names. [name_f]An[/name_f] [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] in the US will probably meet other ones and may not be the only one in her class.
[name_f][/name_f]
However, as someone who has a popular name for my age group and whose favorite name (Henry) is in the top ten, I think there can be a special kind of connection and community found in sharing the same name if you choose to frame it that way. I wouldn’t discount a name you feel is special just for this reason!
