How to add a name to my saved list that’s not in the database?

Hiya!

I recently stumbled upon name in the database that’s only info said ‘added by used xyz’

How does one go about adding a name?

For context, I’m fixating on [name_m]Friday[/name_m]. I love a quirky whimsical name and my great aunt [name_f]Freda[/name_f] somewhat recently passed, who was actually [name_f]Paraskevi[/name_f] on her birth cert - translation from Greek to [name_f]English[/name_f]: [name_m]Friday[/name_m]. [name_m]Friday[/name_m] exists in the database… but only for boys.

[name_m]Can[/name_m] I manually add it into my list in some way?

Thanks muchly!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @LeniC great question! Unfortunately only staff members can add names to the database. If a name entry does not have any text added, it will default to saying “added by (name of staff member).

I love [name_m]Friday[/name_m] as a girl name, and I will add that in for you!

In the future you can suggest names to be added here. I go through every few months and add them!

I can’t get the account page to load for me at the moment, but I believe you can add names directly to your list even if they aren’t in the database yet! Not the ‘favorites’ list because you can’t favorite a name if it’s not already in the database, but if you have another list you created you should be able to add directly from that list’s page – at least, you used to be able to do that!

There should be a button that says “add to list” or “edit list” or something like that, and it will take you to a page where you can add names by typing them at the bottom of your the list and indicate whether they are feminine or masculine. So what you type wouldn’t have to be in the database as a name (it just won’t link to a name page like names that are in the database). I think this is still a feature? But I can’t check because the page won’t load for me right now

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to add: I was able to get the Account page to load and confirmed yes, you can add names that aren’t officially in the database to your lists!

Account (from nameberry.com, not the forums) > click the list you want to add to > [name_f]Edit[/name_f] (at the bottom) > Type the name into either the masculine or feminine name list > Save names
