I really want to use the nickname [name]Nyx[/name] for a character of mine, for various reasons, but I don’t think [name]Nyx[/name] would have been her original name realistically so (besides [name]Nicole[/name], and its variations) can anyone think of any names that [name]Nyx[/name] could possibly be a variation of? Also, a last name for the [name]Nyx[/name]/____ combo.
Also, on a separate note, my friend (not a Nameberry-goer) is writing a story and needs some advice on names…
an OCD, obsessively academic girl, aspires to work in law/politics, likes country music (current contenders are [name]Jane[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Meg[/name] and [name]Diana[/name], but I think she’d be open to more suggestions)
a laid-back, mellow guy that doesn’t really care about anything, is into those faux-European dubstep band things (I think the temporary name is [name]Lars[/name])
a pair of female twins: one is quiet, cheerful, and a little dorky, and the other is a wild partier. For the first one, she said “something like [name]Sydney[/name],” and I suggested [name]Avery[/name], with the second girl named [name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Nixon[/name] (kind of strange on a girl but not that odd w/all the other unisex surname names)
I know you said besides variations of [name]Nicole[/name], but depending on the character’s personality, [name]Nicolette[/name] might be an interesting choice. It’s such a contrast between ultra-frilly and girly [name]Nicolette[/name] and sleek, tough [name]Nyx[/name] that it could show some kind of transformation the character undergoes. Or something:confused: I’m not a writer!
I’m considering both [name]Nixon[/name] (her parents are hardcore Republicans) and [name]Nicolette[/name], because it’s just opposite enough of her that she’s come up with a nickname like [name]Nyx[/name]…still…
[name]Do[/name] you have any ideas about the last part of my post?
I think [name]Annika[/name] could work with the nn [name]Nyx[/name].

I’m writing a piece with Phoenyx as the character’s birth name but she predominately goes by [name]Nyx[/name]. But considering your piece seems to be more modern I would suggest [name]Phoenix[/name] over Phoenyx.
Other N names:
[name]Narcissa[/name]
[name]Natasha[/name]
[name]Nancy[/name] (has the y too)
[name]Nerissa[/name]
