How to get to Penny without Penelope

I love the nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u], but the fact that a member of the Kardashian Klan named one of their children that makes it pretty unusable in my book, considering the bump [name_u]Mason[/name_u] got. Anyone have suggestions on names that could have the nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]?

Everything other than [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] sounds like a bit of a stretch, but frankly a lot of traditional nicknames are not intuitive (Peggy for Margaret, Bobby for Robert, etc) and we all deal with those OK. Some thoughts:

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] or [name_f]Polina[/name_f]
[name_u]Timpani[/name_u]
[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f]
[name_u]Penny[/name_u] (as a full name)

I’m surprised by how much I like [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] after seeing it here, but I do like [name_m]French[/name_m] names. I don’t think I could do [name_u]Penny[/name_u] for a full name. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Cory[/name_u], which is pretty much like having a nickname for a name and I always wish I had a more formal version of my name to use.

I’m a fan of [name_f]Penina[/name_f] and [name_u]Penna[/name_u]. [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is a good idea if you like surnames-as-girl-names.

[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] is all I can add…love [name_f]Eponine[/name_f]!

Penrose?

You could also choose a name that means lucky (as in lucky penny) such as Felicia, and use Penny as a nickname. Or you could use a name that means wealth such as Jessica. Penny wouldn’t be an intuitive nickname, but it would fit and make for a sweet story.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] could morph into [name_u]Penny[/name_u].

Ooo I never thought of [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. It’s so pretty and [name_u]Penny[/name_u] definitely works as a nn. It has a great origin as well with the pre-Greek goddess, the Eleusinian mysteries, and bringing spring!
