How to honor a "Kay"?

[name]Hi[/name] Berries,

Wonder if anyone has any creative ideas for honoring my mom, [name]Kay[/name], in the middle spot. “[name]Kay[/name]” as a first name has a snappy vintage feel to me but it’s nowhere near my top choice for a first name, and in the middle, it makes the name sound more dated to me… maybe it’s the first initial?

We’re still undecided on a first name but our top contenders are [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Delphine[/name].

For example, I really love [name]Daphne[/name], but then [name]Kay[/name] in the middle makes it a little blah for me - I like the idea of something more eccentric in the middle like [name]Plum[/name] or [name]Bluebell[/name]. My mom did pick wild bluebells outside her house in rural Nebraska growing up but that seems a bit of a stretch to me. Her birth month is [name]November[/name], which as a middle I do I love with some of the names. “[name]Nova[/name]” could also be interesting?

Additionally, my husband is interested in honoring his grandmother Vidya somehow as well. I am not a fan of Vidya but I like [name]Veda[/name], though we definitely do not want to use two middle names. [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Kay[/name]? [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Kate[/name]?

Sorry this is a little all over the place, but maybe one of you creative berries will have a brainwave.

Thanks!!

[name]Do[/name] you want to honor both with one child? Or do you plan on just picking? Vinaya might be a way to combine them, here are some kay options:

[name]Kathrine[/name]/[name]Kathryn[/name]
[name]Kate[/name]
[name]Katelyn[/name]
[name]Kaya[/name]
[name]Kayla[/name]
[name]Kaydence[/name]
[name]Kayleigh[/name]
[name]Kaelyn[/name]
Kalani

You could add an e. [name]Kaye[/name] is a little bit more well-rounded looking. Or, you could do [name]Kayla[/name] or [name]Kayley[/name], or really any name that begins with the letter K. [name]Kay[/name] was originally a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name], which would be a beautiful middle. [name]Kate[/name] works too. Good luck!

Thanks catloverd! I should qualify that I really don’t like any names starting with K, which makes it quite a problem! And my name begins with a K so I feel ok about saying that
I think if we could find a way to honor them both it would be very cool but I accept that it might be impossible, in which case picking would be fine.
Maybe something that rhymes with [name]Kay[/name] but sounds more timely like [name]Fay[/name] or [name]Bay[/name]?

Oh what about Vaya?

If you’re going with just the “ay” sound then here are some more suggestions:
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Gray[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Ray[/name]/[name]Rae[/name]
[name]Rayna[/name]
[name]Faye[/name]

[name]Kayleen[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name],etc for a middle name if you wanted something longer? I personally think you can’t go wrong honoring someone (especially) in the mn spot. [name]Kay[/name] is always nice; for your mom :)!!!

I also agree that you cannot go wrong honoring somebody. [name]Kay[/name] fits with the names you mentioned, and, I prefer it to [name]Kayla[/name] or Kalyee etc.

[name]Daphne[/name] [name]November[/name] [name]Kay[/name] or [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Nova[/name] [name]Kay[/name] are stunning combo’s that liven up [name]Kay[/name]. I for one don’t mind [name]Kay[/name] as a middle, she actually is upbeat sounding to me, so I would pick [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Kay[/name]. But if you are interested of using 2 middle names, I think that solves your dilemma.

xo [name]Viv[/name]

[name]Kasey[/name], or McKay?

You sound just like me! My mom’s middle name is [name]Kay[/name] and I don’t like names that start with K either. Plus my sister and grandmother’s middle names are also [name]Kay[/name] and my sister isn’t likely to have any children. I’d love to carry on the tradition, but after searching and searching for a way to honor [name]Kay[/name] without just using [name]Kay[/name], I gave up. I just don’t like K names. My mom, sister and grandma know I love them without me naming my child after them. Sorry I’m not much help.

I’ve seen Vae/Vay used in census records. Maybe a compromise between [name]Kay[/name] and Vidya?

I like [name]Arcadia[/name] nn [name]Cay[/name]/[name]Kay[/name], and other names with [name]Kay[/name] as a nn.
