First, as a disclaimer, I’m not expecting or planning to be for a long time. Anyway, sorry that this is long…
My grandma’s name is [name_f]Manuela[/name_f], and I’d love to find a name to honor her in the middle spot. I don’t want to plainly use “[name_f]Manuela[/name_f]” because I already have a cousin with that as a middle name, and I’m hoping to get a little more creative.
I originally had [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]. It’s soooo beautiful, close enough to [name_f]Manuela[/name_f] to be an honor name, yet far enough to put it in the first name spot as well.
However, my uncle and his wife are expecting their second daughter, and they were going to name her [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. Now, they are pretty much set on [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. So I can’t use [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]
So, any ideas on how to honor a [name_f]Manuela[/name_f]?
I still think [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is totally usable despite the [name_f]Emma[/name_f] relation, as the only other name that directly derives from [name_f]Manuela[/name_f] is [name_f]Manuelita[/name_f]. The others are significant stretches:
Using the “uel” syllable:
[name_f]Raquelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Samuelle[/name_f]
Using the “man” syllable:
[name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Manette[/name_f]
[name_f]Mandoline[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] can have a relative named [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. Especially if you opt for [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Mel[/name_u] or [name_m]Mannie[/name_m] as your daughter’s nickname. I even think [name_f]Emme[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] is fine. I love [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] and it is so different from [name_f]Emma[/name_f] for me.
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f] or [name_f]Amandine[/name_f] come to mind.
I agree that [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] are completely different, but I think it just bugs me because I can see [name_f]Emma[/name_f] inside [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]. Oh well. Thanks for your suggestions! [name_m]Will[/name_m] definitely consider them and your advice!
