We are expecting our second daughter in Feburary, big sister is [name_u]Rylee[/name_u]. We would love to honor a family member named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], but I don’t like the name out right as a First or Middle name. I would love to hear suggestions on alternatives to the name [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] in a way to honor her. First and/or middle names we are currently considering to go with it are:
#1 [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is a diminuitive of [name_f]Ann[/name_f]… So you could use another [name_f]Ann[/name_f] derivative or name containing [name_f]Ann[/name_f].
[name_f]Anja[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
etc…
[name_m]Just[/name_m] saw your list and as [name_f]Nina[/name_f] has the same meaning as [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], I may just go with [name_f]Nina[/name_f]
User giinkies pretty much has it covered. [name_f]Ann[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are great alternatives. Does [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] have a middle name that you can use?
I love all of @giinkies’ suggestions! Exactly what I was going to post. [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is a form of [name_f]Anne[/name_f], so I would probably just pick an [name_f]Anne[/name_f] variation that you liked, and use that. Or even use [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]'s initials, since [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is on your list. For example, of she’s [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], you could do [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], or even [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], or whatever.
A variant of [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is [name_f]Jane[/name_f], which is a great name. And in Latin, [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] which are gorgeous names as well. Another variant of [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is [name_f]Jeanelle[/name_f]. Many choices for [name_u]Jean[/name_u]!
I agree - go with [name_f]Nina[/name_f] - both have two Ns and both have some historical ties to [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is great. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is plain but [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a little more unexpected. You could also go with [name_u]Cyan[/name_u]/Cyann, using the letters of [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I’d be more inclined to recommend that as a middle - [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Cyan[/name_u] or [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_u]Cyan[/name_u]. (With [name_f]Nina[/name_f] you have the other N used in [name_f]Nina[/name_f] too).
